What to expect

-BEFORE SESSION-

FOR BABY
Before the session please feed baby 2-3 hours prior, and plan on feeding baby as soon as you get here! Also, please do not let him/her sleep beforehand, instead try giving baby a bath, let him/her kick with only a nappy, tickle toes, and even let baby fuss for a little bit (no dummy) for a few hours beforehand. This will ensure those squishy sleepy newborn pictures.

*I can't stress that it’s so important to do your best to keep baby awake.*

Many parents come in saying "baby has been sleeping all morning, but trust me, he/she sleeps SO good all the time!"only to have baby wake up, since they will be undressed and unswaddled.

It will be at least 80 degrees in the studio, Due to this, I come dressed for a warm few hours and suggest you do too!

Sessions last between 2-3 hours, sometimes longer if baby is a light sleeper, or is hungry. The easiest way to ensure a sleepy baby is the willingness to nurse/bottlefeed off and on.

If you can, bring a dummy/soother with you. Even if you haven't used one, just for the 2 hours that I'm posing this really helps.

-DURING SESSION-

MUM & DAD

You are a big part of the session. Photographing the connection between you and your baby is one of my all time favourite things. Skin to skin contact creates the most beautiful images.

-DADS, If you prefer not to be shirtless I ask you bring a tighter fitting t-shirt to wear with a good pair of jeans/chinos.
-MUMS, loose-fitting vest tops can work well, some Mum's prefer covered arms which is absolutely fine. Avoid cold shoulder tops please. Keep the colour neutral and design simple. Be sure that you have no chipped nail polish as your hands will be in the images. Also rest assured, I aim to photograph using only flattering angles and light to bring out the natural beauty of your family.

FOR SIBLINGS

-SISTER(S), provide a wrap that will act as the perfect top, or please bring a snug fitting tank in a neutral colour. I ask that girls hair be natural (or in braids) and free of bows, headbands, etc. Ideally no nail polish please
-BROTHER(S), A snug pair of jeans and shirtless are preferred, please take a few moments to chat with your guy about this so he feels prepared for the session - though if he prefers not, a tight-fitting white t-shirt is fine. SIBLINGS, Including older brother/sister(s) in your newborn portraits is the perfect way to document this fleeting time in your lives.

-Important Notices-

While I aim to provide you with a full gallery, there is never an absolute solid guarantee that this will happen. Photographing newborn babies is my passion, but keeping baby safe and happy is always a priority. I will aim to achieve poses at your request but this is at my absolute discretion (froggy pose is not always an option on the day). I encourage an open dialogue with parents, if at any point you feel concerned (for safety, styling preference or anything else, you must raise this with me immediately.
